Books cause dangerous thoughts

There is a possibility that I will be tutoring for a second/third year unit on democratisation in Asia next semester. In case you were wondering, I know very, very little about both "Asia" and "democratisation". And "in". Still, not much chance that there'll be any units in my area, so any teaching experience is a good thing.
Additionally, the laptop I am currently looking at is something like this:
Toshiba with 1.4 GHz CPU, 512 meg RAM, 60 gig HDD, wireless,
Windows installed and ... a flavour of Linux (maybe Ubuntu and maybe Mandriva 2006). The model is an S1.
Tcpip has also offered a personal warranty on labour.
No word on cost yet.
This sounds fairly nifty to me, but admittedly I am not very much aware of computers. And I should learn, yes, but I should also learn about Foucault's theory of power, and human security, and Australian politics, and all kinds of other things. So I remain open to comments on the computer thing.
Rather excitingly (if you're me), we may actually be getting our shower fixed tomorrow morning. Such endless delights.

Ummm... I may be able to help you out on the democratisation in Asia tutoring as well; I've had some first-hand experience in said affairs.
