ahem.

my project attempts to answer the question (drumroll please)

In a poorly disguised attempt to get financial support for solving my own existential problems, my thesis will use the problem of the 'digital divide' as a testing ground for working out how academics, and political scientists in particular, should be engaging with the World Out There. It will (hopefully) cover a variety of issues, which may include:

How to integrate your political philosophy with your broader life plan.
An exploration of the links between knowledge, power, academic writing, and the role of the expert in activism and government.
How political 'scientists' should engage with the 'objects' of their research.
How stupid the term 'political scientists' is, and the ramifications of that stupidity.
How academics in the developed world might fruitfully engage with marginalised groups both at home and in the developing world.
How to get things done without being either a callous bastard or crippled by the guilt at being so fantastically privileged.

Well. those are a few beginning thoughts, anyway. i don't think i explained it as well as i could have. possibly because i still don't really know what i'm doing. which is a little scary, since i should really be way past beginning thoughts by now. since my first chapter and proposal are due in just over a month.

fuck.
