I had a nice weekend. I love my family. They are pretty awesome. In fact, I have a lot of very awesome people in my life.

Also, I have another blog! (Sorry.) It is a group blog, and will mostly be about politics. Later on, it will be linked to our Grownup Thing, and its Grownup Webpage.

Wow, three posts and I already disagree somewhat with the most recent article. I want to write grumpy things when I read an article beginning with a sentence of the form "X is obviously Y" when it's not at all obvious, and in fact I'm reasonably sure that X is not Y. (Mathematicians tend to use "it is obvious that X" as a kind of proof by intimidation.) I'm kind of leery of writing such a comment, though, because it seems kind of rude, and is reasonably likely to boil down to "my beliefs about the future of the human race and/or moral values are incompatible with yours".

Your post mentioning gated communities in Egypt reminds me of the Midnight Oil song Short Memory:

I welcome comments on the Bluestocking Blog, but it would be nice if you were gentle... everyone writing on there is new to blogging. Like, very new. Like, 'here is how you start a blog' kind of new. I'm sure that people would welcome some debate, though.

That's quite probably for the best - I'm not sure that level of mad geekiness is advisable for anyone's health and sanity ;)
