* It is summer (or perhaps spring?) now! I have vegetables that Kyle helped me plant, and I water them and have little chats with them about how well they're doing.
* Lisa was in an exhibition! There are some very nice photos here.
* I have seen some animals that I do not usually see lately, like a lizard in the loungeroom, and a little yellow snake, and a dolphin.

i have had some very annoying animal encounters lately. there was some intense magpie swooping and a mosquito that flew into my ear and refused to come out again. i'd rather see some dolphins. from a distance, just in case they want to annoy me too.

Australian wildlife is a bit like that. I have been subject to some disturbing magpie-swooping myself, on the cycle path near leederville. I am glad I wear a helmet!

Now that my bike is over here, I'm rediscovering the wonders (haha) of magpie-swooping on my way to uni. At the triathlon I was at yesterday, lots of people were bringing their bikes in with spiky bits (like straws or ties or something) coming out of their helmets - we kept wondering 'what's with the antenna?' until we were told it was to stop magpies. Judging by the popularity of them, they might work?

You know, I've never once been swooped by a magpie. It feels as though I've missed out on an essential part of the Being Australian experience.
