because boofuls told me to
Feb. 18th, 2007 06:00 pmI've been kind of rushed since I got home, but boofuls tells me I should be informing the internets that I am home and safe.
Dear internets: I AM HOME AND SAFE. Also: it would be nice to see some of you now, I think. Perhaps you could think about it? I am in love with our backyard, which is much prettier thanks to effort put in by barakketh and his father, so perhaps some of you would like to sit outside and sip tea with me, sometime?
The last few days have been quite a whirlwind. Stuff includes:
* Doing a two day "introduction to university teaching and learning" course, which I wish I'd known about a couple of years ago. There'll be some follow-up seminars and exercises, which I'm quite looking forward to.
* Screwing up a job interview for a job I would have loved, due to miscommunication mostly. I'm now desperately trying to convince myself that a) I really didn't get it for the reason they said - that the other person had more experience, and b) this is an excellent chance to get down to it and focus on my PhD this year.
* Getting invited to Opera in the Park and Jenny Wilson on Friday and Saturday nights. Both were pleasant enough, with lovely company, and nice snacks, and plenty of opportunity to appreciate Perth's breezy (and slightly damp) nights. I think I would have enjoyed Jenny Wilson more if I could hear the words clearly, but it was still nice.
* Lots of family time, which has all been ridiculously nice.
* Getting a yellow petite typewriter from boofuls, which makes me want to type and type and type. I wish I could hook it up to my tippetytapdog.
* Buying myself a soldering iron and two soldering-some-stuff-kits. Hurrah! I am so excited I might pop.
That is all I can remember now! Time for writing letters and also maybe stories now. Hurrah!
(Also: talks with Supervisor and Department Head about PhD Dramas tomorrow. It warrants lots of Capitals, because it makes me Nervous. Hopefully things will be Sorted Out.)
