I've been kind of rushed since I got home, but boofuls tells me I should be informing the internets that I am home and safe.

Dear internets: I AM HOME AND SAFE. Also: it would be nice to see some of you now, I think. Perhaps you could think about it? I am in love with our backyard, which is much prettier thanks to effort put in by barakketh and his father, so perhaps some of you would like to sit outside and sip tea with me, sometime?

The last few days have been quite a whirlwind. Stuff includes:
* Doing a two day "introduction to university teaching and learning" course, which I wish I'd known about a couple of years ago. There'll be some follow-up seminars and exercises, which I'm quite looking forward to.
* Screwing up a job interview for a job I would have loved, due to miscommunication mostly. I'm now desperately trying to convince myself that a) I really didn't get it for the reason they said - that the other person had more experience, and b) this is an excellent chance to get down to it and focus on my PhD this year.
* Getting invited to Opera in the Park and Jenny Wilson on Friday and Saturday nights. Both were pleasant enough, with lovely company, and nice snacks, and plenty of opportunity to appreciate Perth's breezy (and slightly damp) nights. I think I would have enjoyed Jenny Wilson more if I could hear the words clearly, but it was still nice.
* Lots of family time, which has all been ridiculously nice.
* Getting a yellow petite typewriter from boofuls, which makes me want to type and type and type. I wish I could hook it up to my tippetytapdog.
* Buying myself a soldering iron and two soldering-some-stuff-kits. Hurrah! I am so excited I might pop.

That is all I can remember now! Time for writing letters and also maybe stories now. Hurrah!

(Also: talks with Supervisor and Department Head about PhD Dramas tomorrow. It warrants lots of Capitals, because it makes me Nervous. Hopefully things will be Sorted Out.)

You're alive!

Robert and I were just talking about this, we said maybe we should all go to Annalakshmi's for dinner? Because while you were away I started liking Indian food! It's a Christmas miracle.

Yay!

Thanks. I'm keen to sort this out and get on with things.

The soldering will not be art for a while yet, unless you consider kids' circuit board kits art. But perhaps I'll put them in a nice tin or something.

But maybe a photo of a circuit board when it is finished?
Can sort of already see the piece of art – without signature.

I didn't see you at Opera in the Park, but I was there too.

Weclome back, good luck with Things Requiring Capitals, and when do you want to get back into dancing? Subi classes are pretty good!

Sounds excellent, will check it out. Might need to do the beginners course yet again... do they have a website? Looking forward to seeing you - perhaps some Scrabble with the Chloe, if I don't get to dancing just yet?

Swing It! - Mount Lawley classes are starting tonight - beginners course only. So they have Level 1 & 2 and social dancing on Monday nights in Subi, Level 1 and a bit of social dancing on Tuesday in Mt Lawley and Level 1, 2 & 3 on Wednesday in Vic Park.

Cheryl's classes - Thursday nights in Fremantle, Level 1 & 2 & social dancing.

Swing Zing is on every weeknight in some suburb.

I find Shane and Ruth to be a very good teaching combo and I think I've improved a lot just by going to their classes. So that's Mondays and Wednesdays.

I'll try and go to the Mustang this week because I haven't been to class for a couple of weeks and didn't go to Mustang last week. So maybe see you there?

Otherwise, I'm always up for a game of Scrabble.
