well. yesterday was not relaxing.

i gave my presentation ("here is my topic! here is how i will study it! i am neat and my work is important!") yesterday morning. and while all of the presentations last week seemed to get five minutes of questions like, "so, could you describe your chapter outline?", my questioning session was rather...intense.

among other things, i got questioned on whether or not the global justice movement can actually exist (yes, i was perplexed too).

i am a little curious, i admit, about whether or not i am shooting myself in the foot with this project. it may severely hamper any future in academia.

we'll just have to see, won't we?

in other news:
anyone seen a group of giggling girls and boys running around in dresses and tuxedos advertising trashy-hollywood-comedy? they are my latest pet hate. very upset with 'guerrilla advertising'. cooption of countercultural practices (graffiti, chalking, and now street theater) for advertising. do not encourage them, or i will kick you in the shins.

i saw my father last night, and it was very nice. he is very good at being a father, sometimes.

phil's party last night was excellent. more later, when i am less distracted.

1. Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. A drink I'd drink with you.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
5. I'll tell you my first memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST. It is written.

answers from the delightful miss b (or should that be e? or l?):
1. You talk with determination, and that's kool.
2. 'Somebody Told Me' by The Killers. I really have no idea how I associated that with you.
3. Maybe...jelly vodka shots. Blue ones. Best of both the worlds of jelly and alcohol.
4. Sorry about the frequent linguistic serenading that you have to endure from us language nerds that hang out in your corridor.
5. Fire twirling. Very kool.
6. A tropical fish, swimming around with bright colours and bright eyes.
7. I had been wondering where your office was, but I've since figured that one out. Back up pondering: if nothing was an obstacle, what do you want to be when you grow up?

[in answer: a published writer, a lecturer who manages to inspire my students to try to make the world a better place, and someone who lives by her principles.]
