Last night I went dancing, and it was quite pleasant. I'm getting a little braver now, so I've actually been asking people to dance with me now and then rather than just hanging back like a wallflower. I like learning new steps on the dance floor rather than in classes and last night I learnt a couple of things that I think are nifty, including the basic step for balboa, which is handy for the faster dances.

Unfortunately the floor was a little crowded, since the sailors are in town. Disappointingly, they aren't 1940s-era sailors with uniforms and dancing skills.

As usual I was still in the mood for dancing when the band stopped, but of course dancing of the sort I'm after is not to be had so I ended up going home. Probably best to head home early while still keen rather than when tired/sick of northbridge etc etc.

In other news, I have had quite enough of stupid windows and their stupid updates. Windows seems hell-bent on installing its latest update (which does nothing of any value to me), not matter how many times I tell it I don't want it. I've been dragging my feet on moving all my activities over to linux since I have a lot of my thesis information in Endnote, but I've really had enough of bloody windows now. Once I finish the draft for my next couple of chapters I'm going to spend a day or two working out how to put all my endnote material into the open office bibliography thing, and then I'll move over to linux.

Also, I have been downloading a lot of radio plays from Mercury Theatre (the group that did the War of the Worlds radio plays), so I look forward to sitting around and knitting and listening to radio plays. It's the sort of thing, oddly enough, that makes me feel rather content with the world.

Edit: Liz! Make heard our wantings! Now we can totally set up a darkroom in our new house, should we manage to get one!

Another edit: *sigh* I've been trying to work this morning, more plodding on my first two chapters. Apparently, though, all I want to do is dance. Don't suppose anyone is up for dancing (even just dancing around the 'living room'), and maybe dinner, tonight?

OK. Home made dark rooms have the potential to be the kooles tthing ever. As long as we never look, we'll never be wrong. :D
