I went to Raj's house again last night, and it was very nice. Raj and Jyothi keep apologising for the (mostly small-child-generated) noise and chaos, and I keep trying to explain that it's lovely and makes me feel like I'm visiting my own family...huge amounts of food, can't understand most of what's going on, people everywhere, lots of noise.

Raj's sister Sumitra (maybe?) was also there last night, and I was showing her a picture of a certain handsome young man that I know, which is stuck to the inside cover of my on-paper journal. Horrifyingly, she looked at the picture, and then flipped through the book. And then Raj came by and joined her, and they both looked at the absolutely terrible attempts at sketches and comics that I've done over the last few days. Including attempts at rendering myself and abovementioned young man in kitten form.

I blushed a lot.

I think it's ok, though. Apparently Raj and Jyothi both think that I am cute, in a little-girl kind of way. Amazement was expressed at men in the street hitting on me, because apparently it is unclear how anyone could ever think of me that way.

I think cuteness grants leeway for not being good at things (I also exhibited what I hope was an endearing lack of ability to roll out rotis, further horrified Raj's mother by failing to have a picture of my mother to show her, and failed to adequately answer Sumitra's repeated questions about when I'm getting married).

i love the name Jyothi. if i had a child, and it was a girl, i'd call her Jyothi. i think i read it in a book somewhere....or maybe i knew someone called that. i dunno. doesn't matter, really.

*cute* is such a pervasive way of describing things, esp foreign girls (i get *cute* a lot).
