I bought 'The Secret Life of Bees', by Sue Monk Kidd, and read it last night (despite my best intentions). It hit home for about the millionth time how much more amazing books feel to me than television. Every now and then a good movie will knock me down, but it happens so much more frequently with books. I'm perfectly happy to admit that it's probably at least in part because I still tend to think of movies/television as 'junkfood for the brain', so the quality of books I read is much better than the quality of my viewing.

I've also really enjoyed the Virginia Woolf that I've read lately. I like that 'Orlando' was pretty much a huge and wonderful love letter to Vita Sackville-West.

And today I accidentally bought three books from a vendor, because they were being sold for 20Rs each so how could I resist? I got a book on algebra, for something to do in the evenings, and some Canadian poetry, and a book on the Ghandian approach to 'socially productive work' (or something like that).

I've tried to do some writing in all this. I started writing a little storybook to send to my cousins, but I'm not that happy with it so far, and I'm not sure if I'll manage to put it together in time for my trip to the post office. They might have to settle for a letter instead. I'm also thinking more about the story I'm working on now, and I might try and sketch out a plot tonight.

And now I'm going to go track down the last two phone numbers I need for my day of harrassing academics and activists tomorrow.

And then I will buy a chocolate. Hooray!

I declare that you should write more stories - but only if it doesn't interfere with your actual work stuff.

Also, don't try to appreciate movies. They rot your brain and then you turn out like me. :p

But...you're actually kind of nifty. Although, i guess if i was like you, then there would be two lizzies, and i would be the poor copy. Which would not be so cool.

Therefore i shall continue to be awfully elitist, and tell people to read more!

Ohh, I don't think the world couldl handle two of me - EVIL LAUGH.

But, mostly, Orlando is a great book, and a couple of days before your post I put a quote from the book in my userinfo. What are the odds?
