have you ever noticed that the things that might be most interesting to write about on lj are really the things that you just can't say?

quite a few people have lost quite a few points on their purity tests over the last few days. but hey, i can't tell you who, or how, or when. feel free to create your own unpleasant speculations.

also, as you may have been able to tell from some of em's entries, our household is
because em is not entirely ok, and nate seems like he's have some changes to his life (although as far as i can tell he's not too traumatised or anything), and kyle (little brother!) moved in on sunday, and i'm not unhappy but there's still a lot happening right now.

so excited about kyle moving in. we have so many plans. stuff to do. things to make. stories to illustrate. random letters to post. cooking to do.

hmm. i thought i had more to say but now i think that i don't. maybe i'll just fuck off, then, and sign up for some unpleasant tutoring job that i don't even want to do. stupid work. stupid chem. stupid physics.

Yes, many times. Get used to it: even in my case, given that I lead a relatively innocent lifestyle, I've had to do it millions of times.

Oi, you saw me today! Isn't that interesting...? Aren't I interesting...? :-(

(Hehehe, I'm joking. It was good to see you, though... I saw your colourful summer dress from a couple hundred meters away, and right away, I thought... "Bare shoulders, cropped hair, riotously colourful dress... it's gotta be Sky".)

Oi, Sky,

I just read your entry on graphic novels, and there's a few good ones at Perth City library (ya know, the one at Town Hall?)

One in particular... it's a pretty amateurish one (well, the drawing gets better), and it's called 'Hothead Paisan (Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist)', by someone called Diane DiMassa.

It's all about this lesbian living in New York City, who is driven insane by advertising and television, goes stir crazy and kills heaps of people... and in the meantime, talks to her cat and receives good advice from cooler-headed friends and lovers. It's pretty funny, and also pretty thought provoking (much as I hate describing any piece of written matter with the words 'thought provoking). I enjoyed reading it, and I think you would.

The book itself is basically heaps of seperate comics which lead on from each other, and it's generally on the white wire rack in the Children's section (right near the bean bags!)

There's a link with a few sample pages and stuff below: http://www.marystreet.com/HH/

Enjoy!

Yeah, i read Hothead Paisan a few years ago - the Kalgoorlie library has a copy, oddly enough. I'm probably due to re-read it sometime soon, though. Especially since i've gone through just about every other graphic novel that looks even halfway decent at the Perth City Library (which is currently my library of choice).

Mildly related: it's strange the number of people that say "What? like, really really violent pornographic novels?" when i mention that i quite like 'graphic novels'.

different worlds.

You're a fan of Terry Pratchett, right?

Well, even if you're not, I've got a graphic novel of his book 'Mort' than you're welcome to borrow if you like. It's pretty good... well, let's face it, anything that features the Grim Reaper as a devoted cat lover has got to be good.

Yup, that'd be excellent. I do quite like Terry Pratchett, but he tends to be my back-up, no-pain-for-head, reading, so i've read most of his stuff far too many times :)

i'll swap you my JTHM comic for a while. (sadly my graphic novel collection is not large...well, non-existant, really) due to lack of funds.

Rad! I mean, a few years ago, when I hung out at Dominion a lot, I had plenty of opportunities to read JTHM... but seeing as though JTHM was so popular with so many goths, I refused to on the grounds that if they all liked it so much, there must be something wrong with it.

Ahh, the foolishness of youth... wait, I'm still a bloody youth!

...Ahem! Anyway, yeah, I trust your judgement, so yeah, we should do a trade some time.

Hello.

Dave, you coming to the FFGP gig on Friday night? That had better be a yes, haven't seen you (or anyone much) in ages.

That goes for the rest of you, too.

Nah, I've got to make preparations to move out (refer to my latest journal entry). Sorry, Lex: we'll all have to catch up at some point.
