I've just finished listening to Allan Quartermain, and the Want that I have for a ridiculous, blood-spattered epic film of it is so huge that it almost hurts. Haggard is, as always, misogynistic, racist, elitist, paternalistic...but affectionately so. There's this archaic nostalgia for a nobler time running through his books, and even the villains usually die nobly*. Plus, incredibly gory fight scenes and completely overblown battles.
In other news, I've been managing to stick with my 500 words a (week)day count. It seems to be helping me sort out what I want to write about, or at least get some stuff down that I can edit. And today I wrote some fiction too, hurrah!
Also, in a summary of computer news: Fiesty Fawn = ! Thunderbird = ?
That is all! (Please hurry with the movie.)
* For 'nobly' read 'often unnecessarily'.
