Some more stuff
Jan. 24th, 2007 09:49 amMore information for airport pickups:
* I will by flying from Jo'burg to Cape Town on 'Nationwide Airlines' (???), on flight 732. Arrival 1550 28th (as before). Looking forward to seeing the family! (Didn't get an email about this leg of the trip - did you use my gmail account?)
* Arriving in Australia on 13th Feb at 1245 (kale - please tell me if this is different from the info i gave you before), flying with British Airways (i think) on flight BA6414. Kale will pick me up from the airport and take me to visit any family that want visits.
WSF continues to be crazy. I seem to go to about one really fascinating talk a day, and then a few that are ok. Yesterday I went to a great talk on using traditional African leadership structures to improve governance - lots of new information, some viewpoints I hadn't considered, good speakers. Kenneth Kaunda showed up towards the end (like a lot of others, he'd had trouble finding the tent), which was a bit strange for me.
A lot of time is also spent being lost. Happily there's a lot to look at and plenty of people to bump into, so being lost can be quite productive and enjoyable. There are various Swedes* I've been hanging around with, plus a fair few South Africans, and a few others that I bump into repeatedly. I've made friends with a couple of South African women, Zoe and Mary, (originally North American, I think) who are working on water issues, and are generally very cool people. Had a very excited discussion about Doctorow and cyberpunk and boingboing and various other nifty things when I first met Zoe, and the three of us have already got a reading list together. Hurrah!
Okay, just about out of time again. I'm really looking forward to being back online regularly again!
Bye!

* Note: Half of Sweden seems to be at the WSF. Also, at least 3/4 of Italy.
