So anyway. Kale and I watched The future of food today, and it was....frightening. Looking at the genetic engineering issue, but more from a developed world (and particularly US-centric) perspective. Yet another demonstration that today's food production systems are a horrifyingly bad idea. Also interesting for the way it ties into Castells' &tc arguments about today being an "information age". Questions about patenting of life, and being able to own rights to living things...even living things that have been contaminated, and are damaged by being cros-pollinated. More things to think about.

Including how to eat differently, or at least a little differently.

Then: decadence. )

Also: for those of you who can't make it Tuesday, don't fret. I shall be in the country and everything for at least another few months!
