Whee! such a fun night last night! Double-triple-bonus points to j-the-stupendous (and he shall be known for the duration of this post) for an excellent evening.
dancing! to ska! which always always makes me happy, even if i do probably look like i'm having a fit. and it was even more fun because j-the-stupendous was sold on ska. things are extra fun when others are having fun, i find.
so we danced until we ran out of band, and then made wild promises to do more dancing tomorrow night (which is now tonight)!
and then we went to the aberdeen, and did a whole heap of samba, which was fun too (although not so much as ska). i find it odd that you can be walking through the crowd and just get grabbed and danced with by some random. samba loses points, though, because its much more fun to do with a partner, but then if you dance with someone too long they think it is time for kissing. when it isn't. anyway! j-the-stupendous did samba, too, which was fucking excellent. i was not brave enough to do samba straight off the bat! it added to my delight at the evening.
and after the aberdeen we went to another establishment, which i shall not name, and danced some more. the night went downhill somewhat from there, which was disappointing. 31 is too old to be following young ladies home, sorry! Happily i had backup, which made me appreciate friendship triply (fourfold? i am up to bigger numbers, i think!)
now, if you too would like to play with me over the next few days:
friday night, there will be a roda in the city at around 7:30pm (in forrest chaise, outside the information booth). unless it is raining, in which case it will be at 585 wellington st. it should be somewhat excellent. and after the roda, i will be going to the leederville to listen to more ska. hiphiphooray!
saturday night is the performance at the Italian club. It will be fun! There will be drinking, and dancing, and girls (or boys, if you happen to like them!) It is a mere $25 ($20 if you're officially poor)! You should be able to tell how excited I am by the excessive use of exclaimation marks!
sunday from 11 there is the batizado outside PICA. There will be a heap of capoeira, including cute kids kicking each other in the head! hooray!
