Hello kids!

Well, Dharwad and Hubli were fun, and quite useful I think. I found out some stuff I wish I'd found out a month and a half ago (about formation of a new anti-GE group, for example), as well as talking to a farmer about his involvement in and subsequent disillusionment with the KRRS, and speaking to a couple of fairly impressive NGOs. The couple who run the centre for alternative agricultural media are pretty cool.

I also spent my non-work time hanging out with Suresh's family, who were all quite lovely. One family (he has a few brothers in Dharwad) live in a beautiful house, about 100 years old. Did I mention how much I love the houses here? So colourful, and with a wonderful flow between the inside and the outside.

Also, I saw so many baby things! People babies and calves and frogs and baby goats that bounded about the place. And a baby monkey! (!!!)

For my birthday one of the young boys made me a bouquet of roses, and I also got some lovely Indian sweet treats. And I got to catch my first train in India, although we went by the duller and more comfortable class. Plus, extra bonus: lovely birthday phonecalls, and lovely birthday messages transmitted via the internets!

I also spoiled myself horribly, or rather my mother did: I used my birthday money to order a heap of things from my amazon wish list, so I will have exciting packages waiting for me when I get home. I think this is probably the most extravagant treat I have had in quite a while!

Despite the temptation to quit my degree, come home, and pursue a new career, I did not buy the contents of this list.

Additionally:
* I think Freecycle seems nifty enough that I'm willing to get through the amazing horror that is yahoo groups. (I hate yahoo groups so much I could vomit.) Perhaps you would like to join a group in Australia, or even the Goldfields?

Also, I ask for ideas on how to fix these:

A tightrope walker -
I stop to watch a monkey
on a telephone wire

OR

A tightrope walker -
on the street I watch a monkey
on a telephone wire

(I am unhappy with both versions.)

AND

shadow butterflies
and leaves fall into my hair
as I watch the ground

that is all!

Hi Sky how are you? Iam fine. Is India nice? Are you enjoying yourself? Thank you for the photo of the monkey and the person I like them alot. I miss you. On Saturdays and Sundays the house is quieter than it is when you and kyle are here. You are very lucky to get a free lunch and a book. Did you have a nice birthday? I hope you did. I have a present for you.

Love from your cousin
