Flight times and such

I'm feeling much better today, or at least I was until I hit the crowds of MG road and also got some time-request-messages from my activist friend. Still, not too much time at MG road, plus I can't feel guilty for needing time alone because I have to do as much transcribing as I can tonight - the sony shop was unexpectedly shut today and I'm not sure if there'll be one in Mysore, so I want to free up as many hours of interview-tape as I can. Exciting reading today, yes?
Bangalore to Mumbai 23rd March 0650 to 0820
Mumbai to Kharachi 23rd March 1255 to 1415
Karachi to Mumbai 30th March 1020 to 1230
Mumbai to Kuala Lumpur 31st March 2330 to 0700 1st April
Kuala Lumpur to Perth 1st April 0940 to 1500
I hope you are all very, very excited.
In other news:
* It was probably a good thing that I didn't go to the protest against George Bush's visit, since Prasad tells me that the intelligent police were taking down names.
* More topsy-turviness: where Raj's family come from, it is still very common for people to smoke opium. But Raj has never eaten meat, drunk alcohol, or been closer than five feet to an egg. Jyothi can't watch people eating meat on tv without feeling sick. (I think this must be very hard for Australians to comprehend.) Aside: many of the anti-muslim sentiments I hear here start off with "they eat meat". I feel embarrassed when I reveal a similar bloodthirstiness, but people are generally polite about it.
* Yesterday Raj helped me do all my running around to get tickets, and then when I was done dropped me off at his house, since it was too late to do more work. I really enjoyed hanging around with Jyothi again, playing with the kids and chatting and trying to learn how to make halawa (she makes it look so easy! but when Kale and I tried it turned out dreadfully, and injured us both). It started raining so I ended up staying over, which was pleasant. I am surprised at how relaxing I find time with Raj and Jyothi, given how stressed I get about most interpersonal interaction.
* I got to talk to Kale and the delightful Miss Liz on the phone! Hurrah!
* I have been sent poetry by e.e. cummings, who you should all check out, have you not already.
* This morning I saw about thirty live chickens being transported on one bicycle, and two hugs blocks of ice on another.
I'm sure there was lots more Indian craziness, but as I am all a-scatter I shall end this here.
Much love, and I can't wait to see you all (at least those of you who live in Australia) again!
