penguins! They could totally take you!

In other news: I think someone needs to have a talk to transperth about 24 hour time. I just looked up trains for tonight, and they insist that there are trains leaving Maylands at 24:16, 24:46 and 25:46. I am hoping that means what i think it means, otherwise i will be doing a lot more cycling than i intend to! (Maybe it is like Platform 9 and 3/4? Maybe I will be trying to catch trains that i need to know nifty physics/magic tricks for?)

Had a very nice day yesterday, despite more communication issues with julian. I am so angry at him for so much stuff, still, that i just end up being sarcastic and mean all the time. I wish i could deal with things more productively.

But still. I took my bicycle in to be serviced, and had a relatively productive time at uni, and had lunch with the wonderful mr wolf, as well as bussing into town with him. And then we had a really small class for capoeira, and spent a heap of time doing crazy acrobatic stuff. And i could actually do some of the nifty things! Whee! So many things that i didn't think my body could do, but it can! And we had a roda and i got to play a heap, 'cos there were so few of us.

And this morning was a beautiful walk to pick up my bike, which whizzes most satisfactorily now. And then a capoeira lesson that was mostly takedowns. I ended up with Zangada, who is incredibly cool but also scary. She threw me onto the floor so hard that Gringo gave her Looks and told her that if she hurts me it's her responsibility three times, and i also got thrown around a heap in less impressive ways. I'm good at falling over, now! And then we had another small roda, so i'm getting to play a whole heap.

I wanted to go play kobudo, but capoeira went until 12:40, so i had no time.
Plus, lunch! Delicious and healthy, i feel virtuous.

and then i cycled to subi for market shopping and got to have coffee with mr wolf, followed by sitting around in a park in a sunshine. (well, ok. not so much 'sitting' as playing around with some capoeira moves i wanted to practice.)

I am happy! Ridiculously so! Sunshine and things in my life i am excited about!

I did my Subiaco market shop yesterday, and the place was full of unhappy families being mean to each other in a very unpleasant, loud, way. I left feeling very depressed, and actually physically ill from the bad juju in the air. I didn't think I would prefer the stuffy violence of Sunday afternoon vegetable shopping.

Anyway, see what I mean about 24 hour time? It's totally for chumps. Maybe I should write up my formula for working it out, and publish it in a prestigious journal for all to see and learn. Maybe.

oh!

i must have got just the right time of day then, because there were no mean loud families.

i think is even more bonus points for me, then!

I think it was because it was the end of the school holidays. I've never seen it like that before.

Sunday afternoon markets vegetable action is actually quite scary. Luckily the beef bowl at the japanese food place (inventively called 'SUSHI') at Station St Markets is really very good AND cheap. Also HAHAHA second hand tapes!!!

'Handle With Care' might be the most beautiful goofy super-band song every written. Dylan/Petty/Orbison/Harrison/Some Other Guy - what a combo.

You've got a Travelling Wilburys tape?! Does it have more than that one song?!

Its Volume 1. Its a childhood association record, so most of it is only enjoyable nostalgia. 'Handle with Care' however is a beautiful (if a little bit silly) song. I learned how to play 'Handle with care' and was pleased. B7 is a hard chord to play and sounds lame by itself. Stupid 7th chords.

Damn. I used to have a tape of Travelling Wilburys stuff, but I lost it. It was great. :(

p.s. B7 sounds more like a vitamin than a chord. Maybe that's why it sounds weird?

I'm no musician, but the 7 has something to do with the chord's... notes... in relation to the root note. So if you have an E then an E5 chord would contain a note 5 notes higher than E... so B... possibly.

Anyway 7th chords are those ones that sound kind bluesy and countryish... sort of.

Kinda.

The 'Some Other Guy' is Jeff Lynne from ELO, by the way.

I wish I'd learnt the guitar. But I'm too slack about cutting my fingernails to ever be any good at string instruments.

Can you still play?
