In which our heroine is Cheered
May. 14th, 2009 05:18 pmI was a bit down yesterday, what with the Potential Bad News About Job and Slightly-Less-Than-Glowing-Praise from supervisor, but I'm feeling much better today.
I had a long, pleasant chat with my supervisor, who, it turns out, is actually quite pleased with the last chapter I gave him and thinks it requires only minor changes (cutting out a word or a typo here and there). He said that it manages to make a complex argument quite coherently, or something to that effect.
It is unfortunate that I still rely so much on external validation of my academic work, but nevertheless I am cheered!
Still no news on what's happening with the job for next semester, but SupervisorFace also reminded me that it's one less thing to worry about if I don't get it, and working at UWA again next semester wouldn't be a bad idea. I should know by the end of the week (although I never really trust academic deadlines).
As well as these things, today I am happy about:
* Some lovely chats with students, who convinced me to come down and swell the audience numbers for the daylight savings debate,
* Ongoing excitement about Making a Book with Ms Amazing LisaFace.
* I have a marking guide for my Perilously High Stack of Essays, and I am determined that I will sip tea, write comments, tick boxes, and find the coming marking experience to be not only bearable, but also enlightening.
