Today the streets are spattered with coloured powder and eggs. I managed to make it through unscathed until midday, when I stepped outside the halls of the university and was beset by several groups of young men. A few just shook my hand or offered me some powder to dab on myself, others rubbed hands full of powder over my face. I was quite delighted at the novelty.
Despite the holiday, I've got quite a lot of work done so far today. I interviewed Professor Assadi, who had some very interesting things to say, and did a very good impression of David Denemark. I also interviewed two other people, both of whom unexpectedly turned out to be in the KRRS. Both, inevitably it seems, were Presidents.
Tonight there will be a festival in the street where I'm staying, at which I'm sure I will acquire further levels of colour. There will be dancing and a bonfire and such, which sounds pleasant.
In other news, I think I have mentioned that I'm giving a talk on Monday? Here is the little write up for it: ( It's a little long. )
I am very nervous, and particularly worried that I won't be able to sound coherent, let alone as if I have new and exciting things to say!
