afterschool activities

On Tuesday night I went to the writers' group, and wrote about pomegranates. I was pleased, because as it turned out I actually had a few things to say on the subject. So now I have two (or three, perhaps) beginnings of stories, which I may even turn into beginnings-and-middles at some stage, should I unexpectedly be able to access Herculean amounts of motivations.

And last night there was swing dancing, which I always find cheering. Although I do still keep mixing up my lindy circles and my swingouts. But I am going to the Mustang Bar this Friday for dancing, and it's a thought that's sustaining me fairly well right now while I battle my way through my morning unenthusiasm for work (and for the "savoury muffin" I rather unwisely grabbed for breakfast).

My work is going away...still plodding rather, and I'm still on transcription and wishing for some intellectual engagement. I may start attempting some breakup of my workdays into mornings-for-blah-work and afternoons-for-thinking-work, or something like that. I do need to get a move on finishing (and starting, come to that) this paper and my next couple of chapters.

I tend to use my brain till it runs out (about three holurs after I start using it) and then do boring, brainless stuff like that.
