Fool! Are you even listening to my long and somewhat incomprehensible rants? I don't disapprove of cars because they are symbols of capitalist excess...I disapprove of them because:

1) Many of my friends who own them are often broke, and further cripple themselves spending money on a car when it just flat out doesn't make sense financially - most people I've talked have agreed that a 'mixed strategy' of bicycles/walking, public transport and taxis would be far cheaper,
2) Their use influences town planning and contributes to ugly, badly set out cities (which I don't think you can blame iPods for), with poor public transport systems,
3) Once someone has a car, they don't tend to question their use of it, or look at other options (like bicycling or buses) because now they seem too inconvenient.

(hmm. i bet you weren't expecting another rant in response to that throwaway comment)

Maybe I will do a you-style rant later on my opinions on life choices involving Things.

Or maybe I'll just shut the fuck up, and keep some friends...
